The rumor circuit is once again working overtime, there will be no OnePlus Ultra but a OnePlus 10T 5G instead. What can we expect from this flagship?
Those who want more than the OnePlus 10 Pro will soon be able to go to the 10T. It will then be the brand’s first T-series since the OnePlus 8T from 2020. It’s still all rumors, but what can we look forward to?
Processor
A Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Qualcomm chipset!? There were a lot of rumors that a flagship OnePlus 10 to be released later this year would get a new processor. But which one? The 10 Pro has the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 under the hood. Max Jambor, usually well fed, tweeted about the Ovaltine project. Ovaltine is the code name under which OnePlus is working on its flagship.
What then? A Mediatek processor? No Max thinks it will be the newly launched Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 Qualcomm. It has 10 percent faster CPU and GPU clock speeds and up to 30 percent better power efficiency. As a result, the chipset should also become less warm. Overall, the 8+ Gen 1 is about 17 percent faster than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.
Charging speed
The OnePlus 10 Pro can charge quickly. The specs of the OnePlus 10 Pro show that the smartphone can charge as much as 80W SuperVOOC fast. Charging from 0 to 80 and 100% charging is lightning fast. But the flagship should do that even faster. 150W SuperVOOC fast charging should be possible. How much faster that will be in practice in minutes remains to be seen.
Camera
The flagship will probably get a periscope zoom. That would be a first for OnePlus that normally sticks to traditional lenses. A periscope zoom means that the phone’s camera uses a prism mirror system that extends the focal length.
Simply put, a periscope camera (also called a periscope zoom). A periscope lens works like a periscope in a submarine. Light enters the lens and is reflected 90 degrees from an angled mirror. Through another lens, the image comes to the camera sensor, and voila, a photo. Because the direction of the light is changed, a long lens does not have to be physically deep because the direction is sideways. You make it wide. Certainly not a new technology, many smartphones use this, but OnePlus did not do this before.
The OnePlus 10T 5G is expected later this year. There are no official announcements yet, but we are already having fun with the rumor circuit.
