This is how you avoid over-enthusiastic smacks
Are you afraid of a cold or cold sore or are you just not really necessary? This way you avoid every over-enthusiastic smack in a neat way.
Cuddling is healthy (why read here), but only if it is done voluntarily: otherwise those beneficial happiness hormones will be left behind.
Etiquette
According to the official rules of etiquette, you can wish each other – with or without a hug or kiss – a happy new year until Epiphany on January 6. An exception to this is a New Year’s reception that is celebrated after January 6. There are people who still hand out New Year’s greetings after that date, even if it is not quite ‘as it is’.
Not required
The good news is: kissing is never mandatory. Only: how do you prevent over-enthusiastic smacks? General practitioner and sexologist Peter Leusink advises to let the other person know with body language that you are not a kisser but a handshaker: “Stand as rigid as possible and reach out your hand to the other person. Do not bend when you shake hands, but stand firm. you avoid being pulled forward to still get a kiss on the mouth or cheek.”
