Firefox version 100 now available for download

Mozilla announces that users can now download version 100 of its Firefox browser. The update is mainly dominated by video improvements.

For example, users get access to subtitles in picture-in-picture mode, HDR support for videos on macOS and AV1 support on Windows (via hardware acceleration). In addition, the scroll bars on Windows and Linux take up less space.

Firefox isn’t the first browser to hit version 100. About a month ago, Google did the same thing with the Google Chrome browser. Previously it was thought that version 100 of these browsers would cause problemsbut so far the problems seem not to be too bad.

Firefox 100 available

When you first start Firefox 100, the program checks which language your system is using. If the language of the browser and your operating system do not match, the app will ask if you want to change the language. These are small, useful things, because not everyone likes to dive into the settings or know where to find such settings.

Furthermore, Firefox 100 can perform a spell check for multiple languages at the same time. You can add multiple languages by selecting them from the contextual menu in the text field. For a complete overview of updates and features, see Mozilla’s website
