Good new! HBO Max will be available in Europe soon, but there’s a catch.
Yep, it’s going to happen. After much nagging and hassle, HBO Max is coming to Europe. In June, the streaming service finally became available outside the US when it expanded to 39 territories in Latin America and the Caribbean. Now, WarnerMedia’s platform will make its European debut on October 26, starting with six countries in particular: Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Spain and Andorra. So we have to wait a little longer.
HBO Max in Europe
The company lets the streaming service roll out in a phased manner. Next year, 14 other European regions will be granted access, namely Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Slovenia. WarnerMedia is also planning more territory launches for 2022, though it didn’t say whether it will make the streaming service available on more continents.
“This is a historic moment as HBO Max lands in Europe. WarnerMedia movies and series such as Harry Potter, Game of Thrones and The Big Bang Theory are passionately consumed by fans across Europe, and HBO Max was created to provide them with the most intuitive and convenient viewing experience for these and a wide variety of check out other great titles.”
The Netherlands
It is therefore still unknown when the service will be available in our country. That is a pity and it is also not clear why the other countries are chosen first.
HBO Max typically offers two types of plans: standard and mobile. As always, subscription prices in Europe will vary by region. WarnerMedia will reveal more details, including pricing and content offerings for the service in Europe, at a virtual launch event in October. Maybe we’ll hear when it’s our turn.
