Game of Thrones Jon Snow gets his own series

HBO is working on a sequel to the successful Game of Thrones series. A spin-off that revolves around the character Jon Snow.

The series is set after the events of the last season. In that eighth and final season, Jon Snow discovers that his real name is Argon Targaryen, a potential heir to the Iron Throne. At the end of the season, Jon is banned from Westeros and travels with the Wildlings to the north of the wall, leaving his old life behind.

The Hollywood Reporter announced that actor Kit Harington will return in the role of Jon Snow. HBO would still be in the earliest phase of the development of the series, but it is certain that it will come, according to the site.

Emmy

Kit Harington received two Emmys for his role as Jon Snow in Game of Thrones† So it’s no surprise that HBO chooses this immensely popular character for a sequel to the successful series. Harington has refrained from filming, for example, he endured an 11-week winter night shoot in Northern Ireland for season eight. That apparently doesn’t stop him from reprising his role as Jon Snow.

HBO is potentially heading in the same direction as Disney+ with its Marvel and Star Wars brands with Jon Snow’s own series. Disney+ has had great success with its spin-offs based on characters from other movies and series. WandaVisionstarring Elizabeth Olsen, for example and Obi-Wan Kenobi with Ewan McGregor reprising his iconic role.

We are curious which characters are on the roll to get their own series. The rinse is of course a bit thinner since quite a few Game of Thrones characters never made it to the end of the series, but a prequel can still be a possibility of course.

House of the Dragon

When the Jon Snow series should be released is not yet known. HBO does not want to say anything about it yet and Kit Harington also keeps their jaws tight. What we do know is that in August the series House of the Dragon comes true. A prequel set some 200 years in time Game of Thrones plays. This series is about the Targaryen family.
