New headlights and a bigger battery
The Audi A8L Horch, of which the curtain was drawn last weekend, is not coming to the Netherlands. As a saving grace, the brand is now introducing the facelift of the Audi A8 and S8. Both models get new taillights and headlights, plus some extra chrome accents. Of course, the grille is growing (after all, it is 2021) and the bumpers have also changed slightly.
The new headlights feature something Audi calls Digital Micromirror Device (DMD). Each headlight is equipped with about 1.3 million tiny mirrors that can aim the light very accurately. According to Audi, the headlights roll out an illuminated carpet over the road. Beautiful. Buyers can choose from two patterns for the rear lights. For the Audi S8, that’s three.

Choosing the motorization of the Audi A8 is not difficult. If you don’t want an S8, there is only a plug-in hybrid. This 60 TFSI e quattro produces 449 hp and 700 Nm. This version already existed, but the battery has grown a bit for greater electrical range. This PHEV goes from standstill to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds.
Facelift Audi S8
Before the facelift of the Audi S8, the brand did not want to make it an eco-smasher. The sportiest A8 simply gets a V8 with 571 hp and 800 Nm. The 0-100 time is 3.8 seconds. The updated models will come to showrooms in March of next year. Prices will follow in the coming months.
