In 2021, no less than ten sports cars took on the Nürburgring North Loop as part of our “extreme tests”. This is the busiest season since the creation of our section… and certainly the most eclectic! Back in video on the best moments.
At the end of November 2020, a few hours before the winter closure of the Nürburgring, we took in extremis the sporting revelation of the year: the Toyota GR Yaris. Temperatures already negative and nice layers of ice in the shaded sections had unfortunately got the better of this attempt, which had ended in a return empty-handed, except for the maximum speed test on the German motorway…
Logically, it was therefore our favorite Japanese woman who opened the 2021 season, on an almost dry track and behind a very optimistic Audi TT S driver. The near-miss crash did not put us off for the rest of the series, which was both the richest and the most varied since its creation at the end of 2015. The powers of our sports cars thus oscillated between 200 and 510 hp and the weights, between 565 and 1,850 kg! On arrival: ten new tests in our bag, bringing to 36 the number of sportswomen whipped at the Nürburgring. Here is the detailed list of the 2021 batch, before our famous video of the best moments:
- The Toyota GR Yaris, too pressing for this German coupe
- The Peugeot 508 PSE, with fluctuating power depending on the load
- The BMW M3 Competition, without batteries but packed with watts!
- The Hyundai i20 N, the last small GTI?
- The Volkswagen Golf 8 R and its dedicated “Nürburgring” mode
- The Porsche 992 GT3, queen in her kingdom…
- The Cupra Leon VZ 300, much nicer without hybridization
- The Ford Mustang Mach 1 or the only V8 of the season!
- The Ford Puma ST and its very, very playful rear axle
- The Caterham 485 R, which terrified our trouillometer…
