The cold will set in for several days in certain regions of France. In this context, what reflexes should be adopted in order not to fall ill?
Watch out for frostbite
The return of the cold to a large part of the territory will push us to adopt cautious behavior so as not to fall ill. Our body is not used to being confronted with temperatures below zero, it will be necessary to avoid intensive physical activities outside, in particular people suffering from heart and respiratory diseases. Regular physical exercise is however essential.
To avoid frostbite and chapping, also remember to moisturize your skin well and to cover yourself well when going out, especially the extremities (head, hands, feet…). You don’t have to be cold in your house, especially if you have children, but that doesn’t mean that the temperature should reach 25 ° C. 19 ° C is more than enough. Aeration of several minutes each day is also essential to avoid mold and the multiplication of bacteria.
The choice of food is also important in case of extreme cold
If the cold requires more effort for each of our movements, eating fat will bring nothing more than extra pounds. On the other hand, it is recommended to consume slow sugars (pasta, bread, rice, etc.) and proteins (eggs, fish, meat, etc.). Also remember to drink a lot. The temperature changes that you will encounter during the day can indeed dehydrate you.
It will finally be necessary topay special attention to children and the elderly. Babies, for example, need to be able to move when in contact with the cold, so that they can stay warm. As for the elderly, they may give up going out and feel even more isolated or in need than usual.
