A generous butcher. Gérard Romera, who works in a shopping center in Pennes Mirabeau in the Bouches-du-Rhône, produced in three days the longest roast in the world, with a length of 251.40 meters. This is not a fad to appear in the Guinness World Records but a solidarity action in favor of cancer research.
The sale of each piece of the piece, sold for 10 euros per kilo, will be donated to the Guériduncancer association which supports research into pediatric cancers. This collective was created by Eric Schneider, cancer survivor marathoner. He made himself known to the media last year by running 18 marathons in 18 days. Its objective: to raise funds for the pediatric department of the Gustave-Roussy Institute in Villejuif, the leading cancer center in Europe.
A year later, a roast replaced the marathon. With this original wink, Gérard Romera wishes to recall the need to continue the mobilization to help the cure of children with cancer.
In France, one in 500 children will have a cancer before the age of 15, according to the National Cancer Institute (Inca). This disease is the second leading cause of death among children under 15, after accidents, recalls the Institut Gustave Roussy. Leukemia represents 30% of childhood cancers.
