Restyled in spring 2022, the DS7 Crossback will pass the baton to a second generation 100% electric. Developed on the STLA Medium (or e-VMP) platform of the future Peugeot 3008, the family SUV will be produced in the Italian factory in Melfi alongside another DS model and Lancia and Opel SUVs.
Four years after its launch, the DS7 Crossback will go through the restyling box in spring 2022 to continue its successful career. Internally, the teams are working on his replacement scheduled for 2025. What will this second generation look like? For the time being, it is impossible to know but one thing is certain: it will no longer be produced in the Mulhouse plant, entirely dedicated to the Peugeot 308 family, but in southern Italy at the Melfi site. In October 2021, the Stellantis group confirmed that four new vehicles will be produced there from 2024. Today, the plant produces the Jeep Renegade and Compass as well as the Fiat 500X, the next generation of which will be assembled in Tychy, Poland in 2023.
Two DS made in Italy
Failing to specify which four models will be in question, we can reveal to you that it will be the DS7 Crossback, a family SUV for Lancia (code L74), the Opel Manta crossover as well as a second model from DS known under the code name D85. According to our sources, this vehicle will be halfway between a 5-door coupe and an SUV, coming between the DS4 and the DS7 Crossback, and should be unveiled in 2024. The four vehicles will be developed on the STLA Large platform (or e-VMP) developed by PSA and which will be inaugurated by the new Peugeot 3008 (P64) at the end of 2023. In the meantime, a new STLA Large from 2026, this evolution of the EMP2 will be available with one or two engines of the joint venture Nidec – PSA e-Motors for a maximum power of 340 hp. They will be powered by batteries with a capacity ranging from 60 to 100 kWh allowing autonomy of between 400 and 650 km (WLTP cycle) provided by ACC.
