The precariousness increases, the generosity of the French too. Donations increased by 4% in 2015. Between 4.4 and 4.6 billion were paid to associations, according to the 21st barometer (1) of the network Research and Solidarity published this morning exclusively by the newspaper The cross.
Apart from the momentum of solidarity, several factors explain this upturn: “the digitization of the practice of donations, with the emergence of crowdfunding platforms, the multiplication of collectors, as well as the occurrence of several localized natural disasters”, highlights the daily.
The number of donors has stagnated for ten years (5.5 million tax households), but the sums granted are more substantial: 463 euros in 2015, compared to 366 in 2011. They come mainly (56%) from well-to-do taxpayers with an income net taxable amount of more than 39,000 euros.
One out of three donors (31.5%) is over 70, but it is those under 30 who make the most effort in relation to their budget.
If Ile-de-France concentrates 36% of the donations collected (700 euros on average), there is a diagonal of generosity, which starts from the Pyrénées-Atlantiques to go to Alsace-Moselle, ”observes Jacques Malet, president of Research and Solidarity.
Territories often landlocked and little urbanized which create a strong sense of belonging.
