Emotional Freedom Techniques, better known by the acronym EFT, was created in 1995 by Gary Craig, an American engineer.
A cousin of acupuncture, this technique uses the body’s energy channel system, called meridians, in traditional Chinese medicine. The fingers come to apply pressure on these meridian points which makes it possible to release negative emotions. Very quickly, a feeling of comfort is felt.
The benefits of EFT
The main thing to remember about this method: it is practicable in self-treatment and relieves approximately 85% of the problems that you can meet. It can be used anywhere and at any time to soothe any discomfort, pain or emotion that disturbs you. You don’t need any material. You will feel the benefits within minutes of applying it. It is a real appeasement technique.
EFT is indicated for all everyday ailments : stress, anxiety, tics, fears, phobias, pain and for more complex problems like trauma, PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder). It also acts on behavior: self-confidence, self-esteem. To generalize, she can handle anything that bothers you.
Although this technique is easy to use she is not simplistic however, and requires real experience, especially when it comes to solving a problem that is rooted in you. In this case, it is better to consult an EFT practitioner, qualified and trained. His approach is tantamount to therapy, he benefits fromin-depth practice techniques for liberating emotions. Geneviève Gagos is also an expert in the field and created the EFT France school to train people in Gary Craig’s techniques.
EFT you can practice
This is the technique to use yourself to relieve yourself of a simple daily pain, a tension in the back for example.
- Identify your problem : tension in the back
- Evaluate your feelings faced with this problem between 0 and 10 (like the pain scale): 6 for example.
- Build and state a full or “prep” sentence to define your problem tapping the karate point. The default wording is: Even if [j’ai ce problème], [acceptation de soi]. According to our example, we will have: “Even if I have a tension in the back, I love myself and I accept myself completely.”
- Perform a round of EFT i.e. tap the 8 EFT points 7-9 times and stay focused on your problem by dictating your final or “reminder” sentence [j’ai ce problème] : “I have a tension in the back”.
- Reassess your feelings and if necessary start again until you are at 0.
Be careful, EFT is not a technique to avoid your worry. You say a phrase of self-acceptance. So this is a method that allows you to come to terms with the situation and your problem. Geneviève Gagos repeats it enough: “EFT allows you to accept what is! “.
However, EFT is in no way a substitute for a consultation with your doctor to resolve a health problem.
