Delivery times, already extended for some models, have not improved with the semiconductor crisis. In this context, which manufacturers have best met the deadlines? Dealerships judge their brands in the 2021 Manufacturers Love Rating.
The years go by and look the same … The Covid-19 pandemic, which seriously impacted the automotive industry in 2020, continued to do its own in 2021. A new event, partly linked to the health crisis, has come to play spoilers: the shortage of semiconductors. This lack of electronic chips, which forced manufacturers to ease off production, even forced them to review the equipment endowment of certain models so as not to completely block deliveries of new vehicles. Which brands have best met the deadlines? As part of the 2021 manufacturers love rating, the National Council of Automotive Professions (CNPA) questioned the dealer networks. While they were 47% to be satisfied on this point in 2020, this share drops to 32% in 2021 (-15%). The overall average satisfaction with delivery times is only 4.14 out of 10 in 2021 against 4.65 in 2020 (-11%).
Kia is doing well
Not all dealerships give their brand a red card. The proof with Kia. The Korean manufacturer shines in this ranking with a score attributed by its teams of 8.97 out of 10. This is the best score! Mazda, n ° 1 in 2020, only obtains 7.33 just ahead of Suzuki and its 6.92 out of 10. Why is Kia doing better than the others? The Korean manufacturer benefits from geographic proximity to semiconductor manufacturers. With his compatriot Hyundai, which however obtains only a poor 4.14 out of 10, they had anticipated the post-covid recovery and ordering chips very early (and en masse), explained Lionel French Keogh, president in mid-November. by Hyundai Motor France.
Audi, Opel and Land Rover, the three red lanterns 2021
The dealers most dissatisfied with delivery times are those of the Audi brand, which give a score of 1.27 out of 10. The score was hardly higher in 2020. The catalog of customization extends, the equipment more high-tech or even the multiplication of electric motors penalizes the manufacturer with the 4 rings more and more. Land Rover tumbles down the rankings with a satisfaction rate down around 55%. The network has assigned a 1.28 out of 10. The Opel network is also disappointed with its brand with a score of 1.53 out of 10. The prize for the biggest disappointment, however, goes to Nissan, whose dealer network reduced its rating by 60% between 2020 and 2021.
And the French manufacturers?
French manufacturers do not rank in the Top 10, nor even the Top 15. Note that the 14e position is also occupied by Dacia. The network assigned a score of 4 out of 10 to the brand in 2021 (5.21 in 2020) for meeting delivery deadlines. Renault is the 1er tricolor builders. It ranks 16e on 28 brands. Citroën is only 20e , but progress is to be noted since the network has raised the manufacturer’s rating by 61%.
