Since the launch of the Dacia Duster in 2010, two million copies of the Romanian SUV have been sold across the sixty markets in which it is distributed. It is in France that he knows the most success. It is approaching half a million sales in France.
Dacia announces that it has sold two million Dusters worldwide since the launch of its SUV, which dates back to 2010 since the eponymous model of the 1980s was none other than a rebadged ARO 10 for certain markets. Marketed in nearly 60 countries, under the Renault brand in some of them, the “low cost” adventurer is produced in the French group’s factories in Mioveni (Romania) and Curitiba (Brazil). The 2,000,000and copy was manufactured in the historical production center of Dacia. Its delivery is very recent if we are to believe the manufacturer, but the vehicle had left the assembly lines on May 13, 2021. The pandemic and the shortage of electronic chips may have had something to do with this delay.

The “low cost” applied to an SUV
After its rebirth under the aegis of Renault with the Logan in 2004 then the Sandero in 2007, Dacia undertook to tackle the booming SUV market, with a proposal faithful to its philosophy. The vehicle had to be equipped with the essentials but no more in order to be affordable, but it also had to be able to move without too much difficulty out of the asphalt. Dacia presented its project with the Duster concept car at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show and made it a reality with the launch of the production model the following year.

Although the Duster is not a hard-core off-roader, its international and economic vocation put its all-road capabilities at the heart of its design. In addition to the all-wheel drive offered on some versions, from the outset it received a gearbox with a very short first gear (5.79 km/h at 1,000 rpm) facilitating its evolution on difficult terrain. The success was immediate and the millionth Duster left the factory in 2014, in Brazil.

France, first market for the Dacia Duster

The second-generation Dacia Duster was put on the market at the end of 2017 and restyled in 2021. It displays a style very similar to that of its predecessor but more muscular, thanks in particular to more visible protective skis, sculpted fenders and inserts. in black plastic in front of the front doors.
These serve to ensure a junction that is impossible to achieve in bodywork given the production costs targeted, and visually evoke the raised air intakes of the “snorkel” type of 4x4s, according to the manufacturer. The Duster II confirms the test and remains very popular with individuals and professionals alike, including in variants transformed into military vehicles, pick-ups, mounted on tracks or even Papamobile.

Around 1,000 Dacia Dusters leave the factory (particularly from Romania) every day on average. France is the country where the model sells best with 454,707 units sold to date, far ahead of Italy, Germany, Turkey and Spain. During 2022, it will evolve once again by adopting the new Dacia logo.
