Immunity to the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus still remains a mystery: the question arises in particular of “natural” immunity (the one that one develops when one catches Covid-19) in relation to immunity vaccine (which is developed after the anti-Covid-19 vaccination).
Precisely: in a study published in June 2021 (and published in the specialized journal Science), American researchers were specifically interested in “hybrid” immunity. This appears in patients who, after being sick with Covid-19, are vaccinated against the disease.
An extremely effective “hybrid” immunity
According to the researchers, “hybrid” immunity could prove to be extremely effective, even “superhuman”. “When natural immunity against the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus is combined with vaccine immunity, a surprisingly powerful immune response is observed“they specify.
Logical, according to Pr. Guy Gorochov, head of the center of immunology and infectious diseases at the Pitié-Salpêtrière hospital, questioned by our colleagues from West France : “in general and this is confirmed by several major studies, English and Israeli in particular, people who have been infected with the virus and who have then been vaccinated, develop greater immunity than those who have only had the Covid -19 or only vaccine doses. The combination of the two creates synergy and results in a stronger immune response. And it is all the stronger if the patient has developed a severe form of the disease.“
“The combination of disease and vaccination gives leaders of the immune responseadds Prof. Gorochov. The difference is very clear. So we can say it: when you combine natural immunity + vaccine, you are a winner every time!“
