Among the unvaccinated French people, many are in this situation because they cannot move. The USPO therefore asks the Government “to authorize pharmacists to vaccinate fragile patients at home when no alternative solution exists”.
- On average, over the past 7 days, there have been 30,000 daily cases of Covid-19.
- 10,249 people are currently hospitalized with Covid-19.
Some people who cannot travel ask pharmacies to vaccinate them against Covid-19 at home. “It is essential that they can have a simple and quick solution to be vaccinated”, indicates the USPO (the union of community pharmacists) in a press release.
Strong demand for home vaccination
“To objectify these requests and submit it to the Ministry of Health”, the USPO therefore conducted a survey between November 23 and 25 among pharmacists. Of the 1,528 responses, 71.34% of the health professionals questioned said they had been faced with one or more home vaccination requests. 44.32% received between 1 to 5 requests, 35.12% between 5 and 10 and 20.56% more than 10.
However, 56.90% of the pharmacists contacted stated that they were unable to entrust this request to a health professional authorized to vaccinate at home. As a result, 62.44% say they do it themselves. Based on this survey, the USPO “asks the Government to authorize pharmacists to vaccinate at home, including in nursing homes, fragile patients, when no alternative solution exists”.
75.5% of French people received two doses
Since the start of the vaccination campaign in France, 51,963,574 people have received at least one injection (i.e. 77.1% of the total population) and 50,876,798 people now have a complete vaccination schedule (i.e. 75.5% of the total population). Since the start of the booster campaign, 7,664,130 people have received a booster dose.
From January 15, 2022, people aged 18 and over must, in order to keep a valid health pass, receive a reminder between 5 and 7 months after their complete vaccination schedule.
