If it will still take wait until the end of the year to see the first copies delivered to customers, orders are already open for Citroën’s new C4. One would be tempted to say that this is the third generation of the compact chevron (after those released in 2004 and 2010), but some will argue that the very first Citroën C4 was actually released in … 1928. Without count that the C4 Cactus could also claim its belonging to the line, it which plays the interim on the compact segment since its restyling of 2017. The car has also just left the Citroën catalog, its production has been stopped.
Anyway, this new C4 which interests us today stands out frankly from its various ancestors by its style, but also by the fact that it offers a unique choice of engines for a French compact. Indeed, she is the first tricolor compact sedan to be available in a 100% electric version, without neglecting the petrol and diesel units.

Thus, the electric ë-C4 takes over the powertrain of the cousins e-208 and e-2008 and has a power of 136 hp andan announced autonomy, in WLTP cycle, of 350 km, thanks to its 50 kWh battery. In essence, the C4 offers the choice between the three versions of the 1.2 Puretech block of 100, 130 and 155 hp, while in diesel we find the 1.5 BlueHDi of 110 and 130 hp.
On the transmission side, the “small” Puretech 100 and BlueHDi 110 engines are necessarily associated with the six-speed manual gearbox, while the Puretech 155 and BlueHDi 130 are necessarily coupled to the EAT8 automatic gearbox. The Puretech 130 is therefore the only engine to leave the choice between mechanical and automatic gearbox.
