Apple cider vinegar is a very fashionable superfood. Inexpensive and easy to find in supermarkets, it promises health benefits validated by Science: thus, several scientific studies (carried out on humans and animals) have demonstrated that regular consumption of cider vinegar contributes to regulate blood sugar and cholesterol levels.
Properties highlighted by Dr. William John Bulsiewicz, an American gastroenterologist who recently published a video dedicated to cider vinegar on his social networks. “Like most vinegars, apple cider vinegar improves the regulation of our blood sugar levels (blood sugar), which reduces insulin spikes, especially when the vinegar is consumed near a meal” explains the specialist on Instagram.
An unpasteurized cider vinegar, similar to kombucha
Problem: there are dozens of cider vinegar references on store shelves. How to choose “the” best cider vinegar for our health? Dr. William John Bulsiewicz offers a tip: “choose one unpasteurized cider vinegar (or “with the mother of vinegar”) : it will then contain good bacteria, beneficial for your intestinal microbiota“. Unpasteurized cider vinegar is then similar to kombucha.
Good news: you can make your own unpasteurized cider vinegar, according to the recipe suggested by the gastroenterologist: “in a bottle, put 1 tbsp of store-bought cider vinegar, add 220 mL of mineral water, half a lemon juice and possibly a mini-pinch of sugar. Mix well and let it sit.” This is a super drink for your health!
