Max Verstappen’s boss signs up until 2026
A lot of talent alone does not make you a world champion in F1. You need at least one clumsy Canadian who puts him in the wall in the final phase. Madness, of course. But what you definitely need is a good team with good engineers and someone who manages the mess well. At Red Bull, that has been Christian Horner since 2005. And it looks like he will be with the team for at least twenty years as a team principal.
In an interview with Server TV Adviser Helmut Marko says that the contract with Christian Horner has been extended until 2026. Of course, that does not mean that the team boss will stop after that, because he can simply extend again after that. Good news for Max Verstappen, who previously indicated that he also wants to stay with the team for a long time. It’s nice if your colleagues stay too. Verstappen’s contract runs until 2023. If he doesn’t change his mind, there will be a few more years.
What will happen in 2026?
The new engine regulations will come into effect in 2026. Not that much changes then: the engines remain 1.6-litre V6 engines, but they become a bit simpler and there is a budget. According to the rumors, Audi is pleased with the new regulations and would soon announce that it will step in. Although Red Bull is now its own engine supplier, the possibility of a collaboration with Audi cannot be ruled out. But this is still entirely based on speculation.
