Less than 50,000 terminals as of October 31, 2021
According to the new “national barometer of recharging infrastructures open to the public”, deployed by the Ministry of Ecological Transition with Avere-France and GIREVE (Groupement pour l’Itinérance des Recharges Électriques de VEHicles) France had 20,261 stations and 49,914 charging points as of October 31, 2021. This new tool will make it possible to follow the evolution of the number of terminals over the months.
While the number of charging stations has grown significantly since the start of the year (+ 52%), between September and October, the number of charging devices has only increased by 1.7% ( 49,086 terminals).
“This is the first year that we have seen such an acceleration, with nearly 20,000 additional charging points in one year.“
Cécile Goubet, General Delegate of Avere-France adds that at this rate, France will have deployed as much in one year as between 2013 and 2018.

Which region is best endowed with charging points?

Note that more than a third of charging points in France are installed in car parks (37%) in front of roads (36%) and shops (25%). Finally, companies only account for 1% of the points accessible to the general public.
