Intended to sensitize women to screening smears and young girls to vaccination against the human papillomavirus, this mobilization campaign will be available in posters, information brochures and radio sports.
This prevention campaign aims to inform women about the different possibilities of screening for cervical cancer, but also to reduce inequalities in terms of recourse to screening for the disease. Included in the 2009-2013 Cancer Plan, this information system is also intended to encourage women aged 25 to 65 to have systematic screening, namely every 3 years.
The objective: to raise awareness among women aged 25 and over about the importance of the cervico-uterine smear to detect cancerous lesions of the cervix.
Women will also be able to obtain a new information brochure on the screening smear in all pharmacies in France. In addition, young girls and their mothers will benefit from two online spaces to learn about vaccination against the Human Papillomavirus.
The space dedicated to young girls will have two entrances, one for 14-year-old girls, the other for 15-23 year-olds, the age of catching up the vaccine. The campaign also offers space on the Facebook community site to educate adolescent girls about immunization.
Some 2 million women will thus be able to benefit from this screening and monitoring program for the disease. The departmental structures will invite, by mail, women who have not had a smear for three years and will revive those who have not responded to the report of an anomaly on their screening.
According to INCa, more than 2,800 women are affected by cervical cancer each year in France, or nearly 1,000 deaths per year.
