Electromagnetic waves are more harmful to the health of children than that of adults, according to the results of a study published in the medical journal the Journal of Microscopy and Ultrastructure. Indeed, they absorb much more than adults. Researchers reviewed scientific and medical studies, government reports, and user guides from cell phone manufacturers between 2009 and 2014 to establish the dangers of electromagnetic wave radiation to children’s health.
The results of this meta-analysis reveal that waves are more dangerous for children than adults. “Children and unborn babies are at greater risk of bodily harm from waves emitted by wireless devices,” said Lloyd Morgan, of the Department of Environment and Health at UC Berkeley. “Several studies have shown that children absorb more waves than adults” explains the researcher. “It has been found that children’s brain tissue absorbs about twice as many waves as that of adults, and children’s bone marrow ‘ingests’ 10 times as many as adults.”
Children have a higher rate of absorption of waves than adults because their brain tissue is more absorbent, their skulls are thinner, and their relative size is smaller. Fetuses are particularly vulnerable because exposure to waves can lead to degeneration of the protective sheath that surrounds neurons in the brain.
Recommendations to limit the risk of wave impact
To protect from waves, it is essential to hold your phone at least six inches from your ear. This simple gesture reduces the risk of harmful radiation by 10,000 times. The cell phone perpetually emits radiation, it should be stored in a bag and should never be carried in the pocket of jeans for boys, nor in the bra for girls.
75% of teenagers fall asleep with their cell phone under the pillow, when this object should be banned from the bedroom at night. Breastfeeding women should not use this type of device, and pregnant women should avoid holding them too close to their tummy. Likewise, baby monitor type monitors should not be placed in children’s beds.
