Virsaviya Borun-Goncharova is a little girl, now 6 years old, who has a rare disease called Cantrell’s Pentalogy. Due to this rare congenital disorder, she was born with the heart and intestines outside her body (she does not have a diaphragm and is missing part of the abdominal muscles). Protected by a thin layer of skin, his heart beats outside his rib cage.
Born in Russia, she moved to South Florida (USA) with her mother due to the climate more conducive to keeping her alive, hoping to be able to undergo restorative surgery in hospital for Boston children.
Unfortunately, after several examinations, the hospital gave up operating on the little girl immediately because of her blood pressure much too high. Virsaviya and her mother therefore chose to give her a treatment supposed to help the little girl reduce her blood pressure.
And as the mother does not have the financial capacity to pay for this expensive treatment, a call for donations has been launched on a crowsfunding site, on which 45,000 dollars have already been collected, of the 100,000 needed for treatment, following a report on the channel NBC6 south florida.
Posted on facebook, this report has been viewed over 5 million times and hundreds of dollars have been deposited on the crowdfunding site. If the little girl’s health improves, she could be operated on within two years, doctors say.
