Several people have received an email stating that they are behind schedule in paying the monthly health care premium, or that they have to pay an administrative fine to the CAK. These emails are fake. They were sent by scammers.
This reports the CAK, in whose name the e-mails are sent. The CAK states that it never emails about a fine or payment arrears. Whoever receives such an e-mail should never pay and do not click on the links in the message.
Recipients of the mail can best forward it to the fraud helpdesk (valste-email@fraudehelpdesk.nl). If you have already paid, it is best to report it to the police.
Tasks
The CAK is a public service provider that performs five statutory tasks on behalf of the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport. One of these are the schemes for customers who would otherwise fall outside the Dutch healthcare system. This concerns defaulters, the uninsured, conscientious objectors, uninsurable aliens and the foreign scheme. Collecting the monthly healthcare premium is not a task of the CAK.
