The most natural remedy for crevices? A good position at the breast. If the cracks are already there, different solutions exist to treat them.
Repair products to heal existing cracks
Breast milk Rich in antibodies, breast milk has disinfectant and healing properties. After feeding, make a few drops of your milk and massage your nipples. For even more effectiveness, make a “bandage” of breast milk, according to the method proposed by Véronique Darmangeat, lactation consultant and author of “L’allaitement malin” (ed. Leduc.s): soak a gauze compress with breast milk, apply it to the nipple and cover with cling film. Keep this bandage on until the next feeding and repeat it after each feeding.
Lanolin Obtained from the wool fat of sheep, lanolin has been used since ancient times for skin care. It is particularly suitable for crevices because it is not toxic for the baby. Choose a purified lanolin with no added fragrance and apply half a pea on the crevice. Leave until the next feeding, without wiping off.
Rosehip oilAfter feeding, massage the nipple with 2 or 3 drops of rosehip vegetable oil, until penetrated.
