Has the restyled BMW X7 been unveiled before its time? This is what a photo probably on the run suggests. The large SUV could sport a radically revised front end with two-stage lights.
A photo that surfaced online shows what could be the facelifted BMW X7, in a leaked promotional image. The authenticity of this illustration remains to be confirmed, but the staging uses BMW codes, and the evolutions of the vehicle correspond to what we could already guess on some prototypes seen camouflaged. The large Bavarian SUV could change its look significantly.
A new specificity of luxury BMWs?
The “Phase 2” X7 will introduce two-stage headlights. This provision is spreading in the industry, as at Citroën, Skoda or Hyundai, and will distinguish the brand’s most top-of-the-range models in the future. This is the case of the next 7 Series, which will be unveiled at the end of spring. Very fine daytime running lights will be found in the upper blocks, thus evoking the XM, whose design must be found on future large BMWs. The Munich firm has been studying this type of layout for some time; it was already found on the bow of the 2002 Hommage concept car in 2016.
Other less surprising developments
In addition to new front lights, the restyled BMW X7 will be recognized by redesigned shields, as well as a new rear light signature. Its grille will also be slightly revised. In the passenger compartment, we can expect to find a double curved slab combining a digital dashboard and a central touch screen, but also the iDrive 8 multimedia system, as on board the BMW iX in particular. The first X7 of the name having been put on the market at the end of 2018, its mid-career evolution should be presented during the course of this year.
