The BMW i7, a 100% electric variation of the future 7 Series, is officially camouflaged. This “zero exhaust emission” limousine will compete with the Mercedes EQS from 2022. For now, it is being tested in winter near the North Pole.
BMW publishes the first images and confirms the name of the i7, the electric version of the next 7 Series. This battery-powered limousine shares its platform with the next-generation 7-Series petrol and plug-in hybrids. It also takes the traditional saloon profile of the sedan, unlike its rival the Mercedes EQS whose almost unibody silhouette is made possible by an architecture dedicated to electric vehicles.
A style between conservatism and provocation
The front of the next BMW i7 could incorporate some visual elements of the spectacular Concept XM SUV just unveiled. The latter indeed announces the style that will display the bow of the BMW of the next generation 7 and 8 ranges according to the manufacturer. Under the heavy camouflage of the prototype presented by the manufacturer, we notice the front lights positioned low on either side of a plunging “muzzle”. Last June, photos “espion “ revealed the installation on board of a double screen all in width regrouping the main part of the controls, but BMW does not publish for the moment any official cliché of the interior.

BMW i7 unveiled in 2022
Like the iX SUV, the i7 is powered by a fifth-generation BMW electric powertrain. To know its performance or its technical sheet, you will have to wait a little longer. BMW, which is currently testing its future “zero emission” flagship in Arjeplog, in northern Sweden near the Arctic Circle, promises both comfort and sportiness. The BMW i7 will be presented in due form before summer 2022, presumably at the same time as the other variants of the upcoming 7 Series, which will start production in July 2022.
