Entering the market in 2014, the 2 Series Active Tourer is BMW’s first MPV. Despite a certain disaffection of the public for this type of bodywork, the German brand will continue the development of its model so as not to leave Mercedes and its B-Class too alone in this market.
The 2 Series Active Tourer offers a more dynamic style
The silhouette of the newcomer appears very close to that of the current generation, yet no body panel is common to the two models. In detail, the future model even displays a certain dynamism. Its more vertical grille adopts nostrils that meet. Its refined optics feature a new light signature, and, at the rear, the lights take the design of those of the X1. You will have noticed that the mirrors are now placed as a flag holder.
Two digital screens on board
On board, the evolution will be significant with the adoption of a double digital panel, inspired by what Mercedes offers on its B-Class. Note that on the versions equipped with an automated gearbox, the usual lever will give way. its place for a controller, like what Volkswagen now offers from the new Golf 8. This should free up space on the center console. Hopefully the model retains its sliding rear seat.
The Gran Tourer is abandoned
In terms of mechanics, this Series 2 Active Tourer retains its traction architecture, as well as its range of engines made up of 3 and 4-cylinder units available in gasoline, diesel, but also in a plug-in hybrid version.
The Active Tourer will be presented next fall, when it enters production, for marketing scheduled for early 2022. However, it will be alone: the Gran Tourer, the extended version that can accommodate up to 7 passengers, will not be on its own. will not be renewed. The catalog will include the following versions at launch: 218i, 220i, 223i and 218d.
