Caution: these images may be shocking to people with mild OCD traits
According to science (to keep it nice and concrete), people with a symmetrical face are generally more attractive. It’s the same with cars. Yet over the years, car brands broke this beauty rule and made cars asymmetrical in various ways. Very annoying for people who always want their volume on a round number and the dash of the volume knob up.
Volkswagen Golf 4
The fourth generation of the Volkswagen Golf is the Nemo from the automotive world. Except he’s not lost. One of its fins (wing mirrors) is smaller than the other. In the photos, the right (left in the photo) mirror always appears to be half folded. A cheap solution is to order the left mirror from England, because it is mirrored there.
AMC Pacer
Buyers of wider cars, such as Cadillacs, had to feel at home in the fishbowl. To facilitate boarding for rear passengers, the door on the right side has been lengthened by 10 centimeters.
Land Rover Discovery
The first Land Rover Discovery had its license plate on the left side of the boot lid because the spare wheel was on the right side. LaRo winks (the most asymmetrical of facial expressions) to the Disco of yesteryear. The result is more stroke than wink. Fortunately, you can fix it yourself.
Nissan Cube
With the Nissan Cube you can look hard, but really hard into your blind spot. At least it seems so. The pane continues, but behind the optical pane is just a metal stud. We got the walker on the right and in Japan they have it on the left. The Nissan Cube was very popular among a very selective group. The entire fan club will probably fit in one Cube – although you will block the view through the window.
Mini Clubman
When it comes to evacuating children, there is a good and a bad side to cars. Just like city buses. That’s the right side, or curb side. Therefore, as a parent, it would also be quite sadistic to import a right-hand drive from England and take your kids to school with it.
Hyundai Veloster
The Velostar is a silly hatchback with four doors. You read that right: four. And the window of the tailgate just opens with it. The same idea as the Clubman, so: an extra door on the safe side. Unfortunately, the Veloster never caught on here and the importer decided not to supply it anymore.
All Alfa Romeos
Each. twisted. Time. The hard-working Alfa Romeo designers always forget to integrate a license plate into their designs. Ask the rigid Italians and they will say: ‘ies ok like dies, eh’. Come on, two pizzas and we’ll talk about nothing more.
