Aston Martin reveals some of the filming secrets of the new “James Bond”, and in particular the creation of five replicas of DB5 for the needs of the film’s stunts. “Mourir Can Attend” is due out in France on October 6, 2021.
While the theatrical release Die can wait, new opus of the adventures of James Bond, is finally imminent after multiple postponements, communication is intensifying around the feature film. The Aston Martin DB5, the historic vehicle of Britain’s most famous fictional spy, will obviously be back. Five replicas of the English coupe were built for the film, each being intended for one or more very specific sequences as Aston Martin explains with a “making-of”.
A BMW-powered Aston Martin
An Aston Martin DB5 in excellent condition sells for around € 500,000 at auction; the cars visible in the cinema are therefore replicas which, apart from their bodywork, have little in common with the original model. Cars from Die can wait are well animated by a six-cylinder in-line engine like the ” real DB5 “, corn in their case it is a 3.2 L original BMW block, the same one found in the M3 type E46. The stunt cars are equipped with a hydraulic handbrake to facilitate sliding, and a roll cage for safety.
James Bond’s DB5 on the market
Some iconic James Bond DB5 gadgets will be at work again in Die can wait, in improved versions. We will find in particular rear smoke screens, submachine guns hidden behind the front lights, or even mini-bombs.
Remember that Aston Martin offers 25 of its most privileged customers a limited series of DB5 “Goldfinger” equipped with the same devices rendered harmless, and a home engine, at a unit price of 2.75 million pounds or 3.19 million euros approximately. Die can wait is expected in French cinemas on October 6, 2021. The DB5 will be alongside a V8 and a Valhalla from Aston Martin, as well as several Land Rover models.
