Since the beginning of December 2022, the village of Kpo-Kahankro, in Côte d’Ivoire has been facing the worst-case scenario: children falling ill, without knowing what, and dying. For the time being, twelve children between one and eight years old have died, reports a dispatch taken up by 20 Minutes.
Stiffness and vomiting
The two symptoms described by the inhabitants of the village are the following: stiffness develops in the child and the child begins to vomit. Some of the patients have been taken care of at the nearby CHU in the city of Bouaké since the start of this mysterious epidemic.
Following the first deaths, samples were taken from the bodies, so that we can carry out analyzes and determine the origin of their symptoms. But the results are slow to arrive, more than a month later, the source of this epidemic remains unknown.
