Unsurprisingly, ragweed pollen concentrations are increasing and will cause a very high allergic risk in part of France in the coming days.
As expected, the second half of August marks the return of ragweed allergies. This plant, which abounds on French territory, has indeed started flowering.
As a result, the coming week (August 21 to August 28, 2015) may be difficult for people allergic to this pollen. 1.2 million French people would potentially be affected.
“Very high” allergic risk
In his last allergo-pollen bulletin, the National Aerobiological Surveillance Network (RNSA) indicates that “unsurprisingly, ragweed pollen concentrations are increasing and will cause a very high allergic risk in the coming days in a Roussillon – Bourgoin-Jallieu – Genas (Lyon) area. “.
He also specifies that “allergic people from regions peripheral to this area (Lyon, Ambérieu-en-Bugey, Grenoble, Coux (Privas), Valence, Bagnols-sur-Cèze, Nevers) will not be spared with a high level risk” .
Finally, the RNSA indicates that “people sensitive to this pollen should also be careful around Vichy, Bourg-en-Bresse and Mâcon where the risk will be medium”.
Other pollens in decline
As for advice, the RNSA reminds allergy sufferers that they should not forget to follow the treatments prescribed by the doctors. To calm concerns, the Network informs, however, that “concerning other pollens, it is dead calm”.
“Only the most sensitive could be bothered by the pollen of grasses and urticaceae present throughout France. Note the presence of mugwort pollen in the north of France and the Lyon region, without much risk for allergic people either, ”he concludes.
