Rhinestones, sequins but also clouds of pollen on the Croisette. Unfortunately for allergy sufferers, it is not Charlize Theron or Jake Gyllenhaal that they will meet in Cannes, but grass pollens which will also parade over the rest of France with each ray of the sun.

A bed of grasses
Throughout the week, the success of grass pollens will be variable since they will impose a high risk on a majority of the territory and very high on part of the Center, Auvergne and the Rhone and Garonne valley. . The grasses will strut in duo with the oak pollens on the Mediterranean rim, which will cause a maximum allergic risk on Corsica and the Côte d’Azur.
The rest of France will be less affected by this intensive promotion of oak pollen since the allergic risk will be medium to mostly low.
Pollens present throughout the territory
“Olive pollens will appear all around the Mediterranean coast and on Corsica with a very low to low allergic risk”, explains in his bulletin Michel Thibaudon, director of the RNSA. Parietary pollens will be present from Languedoc to the Alps and Corsica, leading to a low to medium allergic risk. On the spectator side, sorrel and plantain pollens will admire the parade of stars all over France with a very low to locally low risk. The festival interpretation prize will therefore be awarded this week to the grasses. Allergic moviegoers should prefer dark rooms to sunny walks to protect themselves from pollens.
