That’s it, it’s done: from January 15, 2020, drugs based on paracetamol, ibuprofen and aspirin will no longer be freely available in pharmacies. This does not mean that you will need a prescription to obtain them: you will however have to ask your pharmacist for them …
“These drugs are safe and effective when used correctly, but pose risks when used improperly.“underlines the National Medicines Safety Agency (ANSM) in a press release.
The goal? Strengthen the pharmacist’s advisory role, and limit the complications linked to the overuse of Doliprane®, Advil®, Nurofene®, Aspirin® or even Spedifene®: kidney disorders, cardiovascular disorders, etc.
Aspirin, ibuprofen and paracetamol: 3 natural alternatives
To calm a headache: dilute 2 drops of peppermint essential oil (Mentha piperita L. var piperita.) in 1 tsp. to s. vegetable oil (sweet almond, for example). Massage your temples and forehead with this mixture. Warning: a remedy reserved for adults, prohibited for pregnant and breastfeeding women.
To lower the fever: macerate 20 to 30 g of meadowsweet flowers (rich in febrifuge salycilate) in 1 L of water overnight and drink this maceration during the day, adding a little honey. This remedy is also suitable for children.
To soothe dental pain: make a mouthwash with thyme (antiseptic and anti-inflammatory) by boiling the equivalent of a glass of water and letting it infuse 1 tbsp. to s. of dried thyme for 10 minutes. Bathe your teeth twice a day minimum.
