After more than a year of parliamentary work, the bill to modernize the health system was definitely adopted by the National Assembly on December 17. Among the various measures of this bill, the deputies have chosen to fight against the excessive thinness of the models.
From now on, the mention of retouching on photographs of mannequins for commercial use will be compulsory. All retouching intended to refine or thicken the silhouette must be accompanied by the mention “Retouched photograph”.
In addition, to be able to exercise this profession, an assessment of the overall state of health of the person must be carried out by the occupational physician, taking into account his Body mass index (BMI).
The doctor must certify that “the state of health of the mannequin, assessed in particular with regard to his body mass index, is compatible with the exercise of his profession. ”Any violation of this article of the bill will be punishable by six months of imprisonment and a fine of 75,000 euros.
