I have sore toes, with stitches in them. What could that be and what can I do about it?
Magda
Sepp Mortelmans, podiatrist
Dear Magda,
A stabbing pain in the toes can indicate a pinching of the nerve from your toes in your forefoot (mortonse neuralgia). This nerve runs between your metatarsals to your toes. The impingement always occurs between the metatarsals but the pain can manifest itself in the toes. This mainly gives a stabbing pain, sometimes also tingling in the toes.
Podiatric soles are often fitted for these complaints to relieve the nerve entrapment while walking in order to reduce the pain.
I would advise you to consult a podiatrist (called a podiatrist in Belgium). A podiatrist can assess the cause of your complaints and look for a solution together with you!
With best regards,
