The case lasted less than 5 years. But the amount of the scam is no less high: 740,000 euros were stolen by a Landes pharmacist from Health Insurance, reveals South West.
The scam began in 2015, when the young woman had financial difficulties with the pharmacy, bought in 2013. To catch up with the accounts, she began to defraud before falling into a real spiral. Concretely, she canceled invoices before returning them several times.
55% increase in turnover
He has also happened to change prescriptions to be reimbursed for drugs or equipment that had not been given to patients. Most of the time, the operations were carried out on expensive drugs, allowing the turnover of the pharmacy to increase by 55% over the last four years. She would also have delivered drugs considered narcotics.
Medical fraud isn’t the only grievance the 37-year-old is accused of. He is also accused of having used the company’s credit card to buy clothes: 100,000 euros would have been spent in 4 years. After pleading a computer problem to justify the overpayments, the pharmacist was interviewed by the College of Physicians and banned from practicing for 3 years. The final verdict will fall on January 27, 2020.
