The universe of connected healthis a vast site of inspiration for researchers who are full of ideas. After the brawhich screens for breast cancer, smart bracelet able to analyze the sweat or even the connected patch sensitive to UVfor the summer, here is the connected t-shirt that detects respiratory diseases.
Soon you will be able to monitor your respiratory health through a smart cotton t-shirt. Its intelligence is based on a sensor made up of antenna-shaped smart fibers. Fixed at chest level, it is able to determine the respiratory rate following the movements of the antenna with the increase in the volume of air in the lungs on inspiration. The information is then transmitted to the user’s telephone or to a nearby computer.

The invention could therefore be used as an aid in the diagnosis of possible respiratory pathologies. The tool could also be used to improve the comfort of hospitalized patients suffering fromasthmaofSleep Apnea or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease by giving them greater freedom of movement. Indeed, the t-shirt works without wires or electrodes. In addition, it is resistant to machine washing, boast the designers, researchers at the University of Laval (Quebec), who were able to observe the effectiveness of the connected t-shirt even after 20 washes.
The work has been published in the journal Sensors.
