Levothyrox, it gets tough! A lawyer at the Ajaccio bar, (herself under Levothyrox), denounces a “non-assistance to person in danger” and attacks many people. Too much ? An online petition recalls the main unanswered questions.
The lawyer Anne-Catherine Colin-Chauley lodged a complaint against Agnès Buzyn and Bruno Lemaire, but also the Merck laboratory (the manufacturer of the drug), the ANSM (the National Agency for the Safety of Medicines), the doctors and the pharmacists, “having refused to take into consideration the undesirable symptoms of their patients”, journalists and the media accused of having directed the information and finally the deputies, senators and mayors, who would not have “honored their duty of interest general”.
An amalgam that risks drowning the substantive issues. Undoubtedly one of the reasons which led the Association of Thyroid Patients to launch a petition which summarizes the main questions:
Is France the only country that has granted the Merck laboratory a total monopoly?
Why does the Order of Physicians ask doctors not to leave the choice to patients?
And why do they have difficulty prescribing other treatments when they know that pharmacies have insufficient stocks?
The association also gives figures not confirmed by the health authorities: 4 deaths, 4 life-threatening cases, 102 hospitalizations with prolongation, 22 disabilities and work incapacities, 3 congenital anomalies of children of mothers on Levothyrox and 2,480 other serious medical situations.
In 4 days, the petition of the association of thyroid patients, posted on November 8, has exceeded 60,000 signatures. Note that in the preamble, the actress Anny Duperey, extremely popular supports this petition and testifies.
All in all a swelling controversy, questions without clear answers. The Ministry of Health will have to take the scope of the file into account, as urgently as possible
