No surprise: you can fill up the cheapest in the north of the Netherlands
Family, friends and work. All annoying things that prevent you from buying half a villa in the north of the Netherlands for an apple and an egg and tapping cheap beer there. It should come as no surprise that the cheapest petrol of 2021 was once again found in the higher provinces. There is one notable exception for fans of E5 petrol. You simply tap the cheapest premium petrol in the capital.
MultiTankcard looked at the average prices charged by gas stations in 2021. It turned out that you can get the cheapest petrol in Groningen. You can tap the cheapest petrol at the Sakko gas station in Uithuizen. There, an average of 1,655 euros per liter was asked. Would you rather get E5 toddler? Then you will find the cheapest petrol funnily enough in expensive Amsterdam. With the Makro, the juice with less ethanol came out of the hose for an average of 1.82 euros per liter. The petrol stations with the cheapest petrol can be found at the bottom of the page.
The average increase in petrol prices
Last year, E10 petrol cost an average of 1.57 euros per liter. Then we also had a significant dip in prices due to corona. This year you paid an average of 1.80 euros for a liter of E10 pop juice. The outliers can be found on the Wadden. There you had to pay 2.22 euros at the highest point. And you have to pay, because where else will you fill up? The average price for E5 this year was 1.92 euros. Last year it was still 1.92 euros. Diesel rose from 1.25 euros in 2020 to 1.45 euros this year.
Utrecht is the most expensive province for petrol
According to MultiTankcard you will find the most expensive petrol in the province of Utrecht. This is partly due to the high population density and high real estate prices, but also because there are many highway filling stations in Utrecht. ‘And the price difference between highway pumps and pumps along provincial roads is growing. In 2019 this difference was on average 11 cents per litre, this year it was 15 cents per litre’, according to MultiTankcard. Refueling is also very expensive on the Wadden Islands.
