The interns prefer the Atlantic coast to the Alps. In the choice of assignment, Nantes is ahead of Lyon for the first time. The Montpellier-Nîmes University Hospital is in 3rd position.
A CHU, yes, but which one? This year again, the magazine What’s up Doc publishes its ranking of university establishments that make boarders dream. Far from the large hospitals of Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône), Paris and Lille (North), doctors in training prefer cities on a human scale, where life is more pleasant. For the first time in three years, the Hospices Civils de Lyon (Rhône) are ahead.
In 2015, the port city of Nantes (Loire-Atlantique) won the support of medical interns. It most often emerges in the wishes of assignment of students, ahead of Lyon, Montpellier-Nîmes, Rennes and Bordeaux. Cities where life is good, as the magazine points out. But “these are also the university hospitals where the directors are dynamic, and even the trio director – dean – president of CME (establishment medical commission) works well”, explains Pr Guy Vallancien, member of the Academy of medicine, in a statement.
The acclaimed nephrology
Conversely, structures with a heavier organization like Paris and Marseille are neglected by interns. But the prize for the biggest fall goes to the Toulouse (Haute-Garonne) and Nancy (Moselle) CHUs.
On the side of specialties, a change is also taking place. Ophthalmology is ahead when it had been a leader for three years. This year, the interns preferred nephrology to him.
