42 departments classified in the red zone
With nearly 10,000 new cases recorded in France last Thursday, Jean Castex mentioned “ an obvious degradation “. According to him ” the incidence rate rose to 72 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, compared to 57 a week ago “. This is why the Defense Council declared at 42 the new number of departments classified in the red zone.
Reinforced measures in Marseille, Bordeaux and Guadeloupe
To recall what conditions the classification of a department in the red zone, Jean Castex explains “ This classification does not have an automatic consequence but it allows the prefect in conjunction with the health authorities and local elected officials to trigger additional risk reduction measures, in particular on the wearing of a mask, gatherings in public spaces, large events or the opening hours of certain businesses “.
In the departments most affected by the epidemic such as Marseille, Bordeaux and Guadeloupe, the Prime Minister has already asked the prefects concerned to offer him a set of new additional measures by Monday.
The duration of isolation is reduced from 14 to 7 days
While the duration of isolation imposed until now was 14 days, it is now reduced to 7 days on the proposal of the Scientific Council. A shorter period of isolation but which will give rise to more checks. However, the monitoring methods have not yet been mentioned.
2000 people will be recruited
In order to improve epidemiological surveillance, the Defense Council announced the recruitment of 2,000 people within the Health Insurance and Regional Health Agencies (ARS). The goal? Trace, identify and monitor the prevention of contact cases.
Accelerated screening for priority people
As screening centers are mostly saturated (especially in large cities), the French Prime Minister has announced the opening of circuits dedicated to priority people in order to put an end to excessive waiting times. For that, ” laboratories will reserve certain time slots for them and we will ensure where there is a need, and in particular in large cities, to install screening tents which will also be dedicated to them»Announced Jean Castex.
The people concerned are those who present the symptoms of Covid-19, those who have been in close contact with infected people and nursing or similar staff, working in hospitals, in nursing homes or at home.
