After the suicide of five nurses this summer, the National Nursing Coordination (CNI) is launching a strike movement to denounce the deterioration of working conditions at the hospital.
Deterioration in the working conditions of nurses
The working conditions of nurses are increasingly difficult. This summer, 5 of them decided to end their lives. The profession is worried and many nurses decided to go on strike Wednesday September 14, at the call of one of the main nursing unions, the National Nursing Coordination. Those who could not demonstrate were invited to ” wear a black armband over their professional attire as a token of respect to our colleagues who passed away this summer. “
What the union wants is ” the allocation of funds enabling healthcare establishments to have the means to ensure that the workforce is matched to the daily workload, the replacement of absenteeism as well as the management of work stations. “
Guarantee the recognition of nurses’ skills
But that’s not all. The CNI asks ” the definition of caregiver ratios at bedside by specialty; strengthening of occupational health services; support for establishments to guarantee staffing, development and recognition of nursing skills as well as the establishment of listening cells and the development of prevention of psycho-social risks with financial support from establishments to guarantee their effectiveness. “
A permanent requirement for versatility, increased work, days off that are not respected, positions not replaced or eliminated … Nurses expect a quick response from the government, because the profession is at its wit’s end. Last year, the Minister of Health, Marisol Touraine, had nevertheless promised to put in place a plan for the attractiveness of hospital careers. A plan that is long overdue according to the CNI.
