As the International Congress of Naturopathy (ICNM) in Paris approaches, Anne-Marie Narboni, Franco-Canadian naturopath and president of the congress answers a few questions for PasseportSanté.
What is Naturopathy?
Naturopathy is the 3th global traditional medicine, recognized as such by the World Health Organization and the International Labor Office in Geneva. It is based on the principle that the human body has an innate capacity for self-healing. Naturopathic medicine aims to prevent disease, maintain health, or optimize it through a healthier lifestyle. Naturopaths draw up, after an in-depth questionnaire and a vital assessment, a lifestyle program that will consist of personalized and dedicated naturopathic advice, for a comprehensive care of the various health plans (diet, physical activities, psycho management). -emotional …). This program may be supplemented as appropriate by adding nutritional supplements. Naturopathy thus contributes to the promotion of overall and lasting health.
What are the fundamental principles of Naturopathy?
Stimulate the body’s self-healing forces through support in several phases:
- The detoxification which wants to be progressive by a small food rest, by cure or monodiet and by a psychological rebalancing to lift the hold of the mind.
- The descaling tissue which essentially passes through drainage of the body, involving the emunctorial organs (organs of elimination).
- The revitalization which consists of supplementing the diet in order to avoid or eliminate any deficiency state that could harm the organic ecosystem.
- The stabilization which consists of maintaining the beneficial effects obtained over time.
What are the vital parameters of natural health?
There are four vital parameters in naturopathy:
- THE’individualized diet natural, digestible, measured, ensuring perfect nutrition of cells.
- THE’physical activity which, perfectly modulated, ensures good blood circulation as well as the irrigation and oxygenation of our cells.
- a sleep of quality in sufficient quantity.
- The mental serenity, which avoids parasitic thoughts, disrupting the information received by our cells.
When these 4 vital parameters are respected and observed, the vital potential is optimum.
When to consult a naturopath?
When you want to do a health check-up (vital hygiene check-up, food check-up, stress management, fitness) in order to understand your situation (trends, weaknesses, etc.) and to set up a real hygiene program of life adapted to your personality and focused on care and / or prevention.
During one-off or chronic problems, the naturopath will guide and advise you by offering personalized dietary adjustments, natural and specific therapies and supplements, and an adapted lifestyle.
Why an International Congress of Naturopathy?
The ICNM, the largest International Congress of Naturopathy, is hosting for the 1time the most renowned professionals, professors and doctors in Naturopathic Medicine in Paris in order to present the most recent scientific research and studies. During the 3 days of the Congress, the program will focus on the biggest news topics in the fields of Naturopathy and Complementary Medicine. 10 FLASH POINTS, according to Anne-Marie Narboni:
The Precursors of Yesterday: Hippocrates (The Father of Medicine), Dr Paul Carton, Herbert M. Shelton, Bernard Jensen, John H. Tilden, Pierre V. Marchesseau (Prophet of the Laws of Nature).
And today: In France, Robert Masson has been named the Pope of Naturopathy, along with Daniel Kieffer and Alain Rousseau.
What should we avoid?
- The many industrial and toxic foods: fake sugars and refined flour, excess proteins, bad fats, GMOs, Monosodium Glutamate, to name but a few.
- Snacking, the No. 1 food nuisance (attack on the digestive tract and fatigue of the immune and nervous systems)
- Stress, one of the major causes of poor living, the weakening of the immune system and the appearance of various disorders and diseases.
- Physical inactivity
Foods to absolutely promote on a daily basis: products resulting from agriculture respecting Nature and Human Being, in particular fruits and vegetables.
What about our children? Today, it is essential to teach them to cook with fresh and natural products. Let us feed them with quality and vitalizing food, in order to re-educate their taste buds so that they rediscover the taste pleasure in simplicity.
To consume without moderation : no food, product or drink taken in excess can cause imbalance.
Advice for everyone: A monodiet * one evening a week.
* the monodiet consists of a meal composed of a single healthy food. Its goal is to lighten digestion during a meal, and thus to relax the body.
What we don’t know : Naturopathic Medicine Can Prevent Most Chronic Diseases And Keep Us Healthy
What we too often forget : listen to us, listen to our body and the signals it sends us.
The final word : ” May your food be your medicine! »Hippocrates
