It is on TikTok that the latest bad idea is circulating: some Internet users claim that, to lose weight, it would be enough to drink a large glass of lemon juice mixed with baking soda every morning …
Is it effective? Of course not. Unsurprisingly, the baking soda + lemon juice mixture is not slimming, as confirmed by dietician Valérie Samama, interviewed by our colleagues from 20 minutes : “baking soda does not make you lose weight“.
An “elixir” that can be bad for your health
On the other hand, the mixture does indeed have satiating properties since it fills the stomach, as the specialist explains. An “appetite suppressant” effect that can also be obtained by drinking a simple glass of water every morning before breakfast!
Moreover, this “slimming tip” could be bad for your health: consumed over the long term, baking soda can cause abdominal discomfort, nausea and even the appearance of swelling (edema) in the ankles and calves. . As for lemon juice, which is very acidic, it can harm oral health by gradually destroying the enamel that covers the teeth.
To lose weight in a healthy and safe way, there is unfortunately no “miracle tip”: you must adopt a balanced diet (limiting sugar, saturated fats and industrial products) and practice an activity regular physical exercise (and adapted to our state of health).
