Microsoft gives the Xbox app on Windows a performance meter, so you can see in advance how well a game runs on your PC.
This way you don’t have to download a game first and then find out that things are not running well. Of course you can also get that information from the list of specifications.
But such a dry list does not mean something to every PC player. That is why from now on you will see in the app that a game “on a similar computer” runs well or badly. Then you immediately know where you stand.
Xbox app receives handy update
The Xbox app looks at the specifications of your computer and thus compares them with specifications of other computers. The app makes a prediction based on that.
“If your PC can’t handle a graphics-heavy game, you can view the list of specifications within the app”, thus senior product manager of Xbox experiences Tila Nguyen.
Unfortunately, not every game immediately gets such a performance meter. Microsoft first wants to learn more about how different games run on different PCs, before the Xbox app can make a prediction. But for some games, this part is a great alternative to third-party websites, such as Can You Run It†
