Want to transform your Porsche 924 or 944 into an all-terrain sports car? The Austrians at Vagabund are offering a Safari kit for these two models from the 1970s and 1980s, which costs €9,900. Enhancement, additional lights, roof rack… everything is there.
Vagabund Moto is an Austrian company offering various accessories related to motorized excursions, through a small selection of items ranging from a modified Lada Niva in miniature to clothing and a giant “toy” box intended to accommodate a motorbike. Their latest creation is a Safari kit for the Porsche 924 S and 944.
A small GT ready to cross
Possibly inspired by the Porsche 924 Carrera GTS raced in rally by Walter Röhrl in 1981, Vagabund’s Safari kit includes a suspension raised by 4 cm with specific shock absorbers, a modified rear axle, four additional headlights, a roof rack, 15-inch diameter all-terrain tyres, a shortened gear lever and a retro-designed spare wheel that can be installed on the roof rack, also included in the pack. Each kit is completed with UV-resistant stickers that act as a livery.
€9,900 to transform your Porsche
The Safari Kit Vagabund is billed at €9,900. Interested customers must entrust their Porsche 924 S or 944 to the tuner, who will transform it in his workshop. As an option, it is possible to add aluminum protection plates for the underbody, a hydraulic handbrake, a limited slip differential or even a stainless steel exhaust system. Enough to go on an adventure with a “vintage” but foolproof sports car.
This proposal is further proof of the craze currently enjoyed by the transformation of sports cars into off-road. A success such that even manufacturers are getting started. Porsche is notably preparing a raised 911 which, according to some rumors, could bear the suffix Dakar.
