This is it, we are there! Some still feel a little smeared from the day before, others try to recover the few hours of lost sleep, still others take advantage of this day to spend some time with family … but almost all choose the beginning of the year to take stock of the past and take good resolutions. Love, health, money … to sort out the promises, the French Federation of Physical Education and Gymnastics (FFEPGV) carried out its Sport-Health Barometer for the third consecutive year.
It therefore seems that the French want above all to give themselves real moments of relaxation for the coming year. Indeed, among the first four French resolutions for 2014 are:
1. Reserve real moments of relaxation (38% in 2014 against 36% in 2013)
2. Play sports (34% in 2014 against 37% in 2013)
3. Take better care of your body (29% in 2014 against 28% in 2013)
4. Spend more time with friends and family (28% in 2014 against 27% in 2013)
“In 2013, the economic situation and the economic climate did not improve … The French take the opposite view of this gloomy environment and declare that they want to give themselves priority moments of relaxation”, indicates the FFEPGV.

Regarding their overall form, the 1,002 French people questioned on the Internet give it an average score of 6.2 / 10 (6.4 / 10 for men and 6/10 for women). “It is also interesting to note that there is a notable difference between the French who practice a sporting activity and those who do not”, observes the FFEPGV. Respondents who do not participate in sport gave a score of 5.9 / 10 to their state of fitness, unlike those who participate in sport regularly, who gave a score of 6.5 / 10.
The Federation finally notes that one in four French people testify to having made good resolutions last year and having generally succeeded in keeping them. Hopefully this will also be the case in 2014!
