Fragrances from the past are often still for sale. Over the past few months, we’ve been asking you about memories of these scents on Facebook. Nine perfumes that evoke the most nostalgic feelings.
1. Opium by Yves Saint Laurent
Some people think this women’s perfume smells wonderful, but others would prefer to open a window for a while. Today ‘Opium’ seems to be less heavy than it was in 1977, when it came out.
“Every year, for 30 years at least two large bottles. Still delicious“, writes Miriam on Facebook.
2. Anaïs Anaïs of Cacharel
A very romantic perfume, which, despite its age of 41, has remained as fresh as a flower meadow in spring.
“I still think it’s a wonderful scent! We even have a granddaughter named ‘Anaïs’!”, writes Mies on Facebook.
3. Kölnisch Wasser from 4711
Perhaps the most famous and oldest fragrance ever. Our grandmothers already sprinkled themselves with this ‘odeklonje’.
“Our grandmother always used it on a handkerchief. It helped with headaches,” she said. says Andrea on Facebook about this fragrance.
4. Gloria Vanderbilt
This perfume from 1982 was created by the recently deceased Gloria herself, a descendant of a very wealthy American family. This creative lady also wrote books, made art and designed a clothing line.
“My grandmother always wore it. I always have a bit in the cupboard to spray sometimes. To go back in time and think of her.” Fleur responds.
5. Old Spice
Old Spice in the signature white bottle. Dads would sprinkle this cologne over their jaws after shaving.
“Colleague of mine used old spice. In the elevator in the morning you knew he was already at work”, tells Marion.
6. Loulou of Cacharel
This sensual fragrance has been widely sold since 1987. That is also because unlike other fragrances, it is very affordable.
Tonja on Facebook: “Was my summer fragrance for years. The bottle was so pretty too.”
7. Maroussia
According to the packaging, this fragrance from 1992 was invented by ‘Slava Zaïtsev’. That sounds like a made-up name, but this Russian fashion designer really does exist!
“Just bought a new one. I once had a green one that was really for the summer. But I can’t get it anywhere.” tells Ineke.
8. Poison from Dior.
When this intoxicating fragrance came out in 1985, it was reportedly banned in some restaurants!
Connie: “Heyhonestly. Until it fell apart next to my bed. Then I was done with it.”
9. No 19” by Chanel
It is slightly less known than the legendary perfume “No 5” but was already launched in 1970, just before Coco Chanel passed away.
“I used to get chanel 19 from my sister-in-law. She worked at a perfume factory (IFF Hilversum) and she made it there herself”, says Betske about No19.
