The appearance of married women’s hair is linked to the increase in the frequency of sexual relations within their union, according to a new investigation published in the journal Frontiers in Psychology.
This theme may at first glance seem to make neither tail nor head, however the authors had, before the start of their research, hypothesized that long and/or good quality hair in women would reinforce the sexual desire of men towards their wives, thus potentially increasing sexual activity within the couple.
“The image of the ideal woman often involves having long, silky hair”write the researchers at the start of their report. “While some researchers have found that the appearance of women’s hair signals to men their reproductive potential, it is unclear whether women’s hair can impact their sex lives.” they note.
Sexual relations within a couple: what is the link with hair length?
The study included 204 married couples residing in South Korea, with women averaging 33 years old and men 36 years old. They were recruited through PanelNow, a platform managed by dataSpring Korea.
All participants gave researchers information about their hair length, hair quality, physical attractiveness, sexual desire for spouse, and frequency of sexual intercourse.
Women’s long hair can increase men’s desire
The survey results found that husbands reported an average of 3.6 sexual acts per month, while wives reported 3.3.
Furthermore, couples where the woman had long, good-quality hair reported more frequent sexual activity. Additionally, these women were more satisfied with their marriages, a sentiment shared by their husbands.
The researchers also demonstrated that the length and quality of the hair of the women included in the study increased their attractiveness in the eyes of their husbands, which increased their sexual desire.
On the other hand, the quality and length of the hair of the men participating in the survey had no influence on the number of sexual relations within the couple.
“Our results revealed a significant effect of women’s hair quality and length on the frequency of sexual intercourse,” summarize the researchers. “This indicates that long, quality hair in women could promote bonding within couples,” they conclude.
